Among the key changes, Major General Pilot Ali Abdollahi has been named as the new chief of staff of the armed forces. In a separate move, Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi has been appointed as the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The announcement signals a major realignment within Iran's defence establishment, affecting both the regular military and the elite paramilitary force. The remaining four appointments were not detailed in the initial announcement.
