Iran's military aired video of missile and drone launches it says targeted US vessels and oil tankers.

Iran's state media has broadcast military footage that purportedly shows the launch of missiles and drones towards American naval vessels and oil tankers. The video, released on September 9, 2026, was aired by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

The footage, which includes night shots and graphics, displays multiple projectiles being fired. According to the Iranian military, the targets were US vessels, oil tankers, and other ships that were involved in what Tehran describes as "illegal activities."

The location of the launches was not disclosed. The video was distributed with a note that it could not be independently verified regarding the dates, locations, or conditions under which it was shot.

The broadcast is subject to restrictions under Iranian law, which prohibits providing coverage from Iran to Israeli media, Persian-language TV stations based outside Iran, and specific international broadcasters including BBC Persian, VOA Persian, Manoto TV, and Iran International TV.
