Iran Ready to Expand All-Out Cooperation with Pakistan, President Says
Iran's president tells Pakistan's interior minister Tehran is ready to deepen cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has voiced Tehran's readiness to deepen and expand bilateral cooperation with Pakistan across various sectors. The remarks came during a meeting with Pakistan's visiting Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, according to a statement from the Iranian president's office.
Pezeshkian highlighted the "excellent relations and deep bonds" between the two neighbours, pointing to their historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties. He stressed that Tehran values Islamabad's interest in promoting solidarity and closer relations, and expressed Iran's willingness to develop joint cooperation in all areas of common interest.
The Iranian president added that stronger bilateral ties would help safeguard mutual interests and contribute to regional stability and security.
Naqvi, who arrived in Tehran earlier in the day, said his visit was aimed at following up on agreements reached during a recent trip to Pakistan by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. He described the relationship between the two countries as "strong, age-old and unbreakable," and reiterated Islamabad's commitment to expanding all-out ties with Tehran.
Later, Naqvi also met Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi for discussions on diplomatic and bilateral matters, according to Iran's official news agency IRNA.
The visit comes amid ongoing diplomatic engagement between Iran and Pakistan, with Islamabad having previously mediated peace talks between Tehran and Washington. Those efforts led to a memorandum of understanding in June to end the war between Iran and the United States.
