Iran's Parliament Speaker Says Regional Order Is Shifting

Iran's parliament speaker, visiting Iraq, said Tehran is reinforcing a new regional order and called for security and economic cooperation among Islamic nations.

Iran's parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, said during a visit to Baghdad on Wednesday that Tehran and its allies are "winning" and that a "new order" is taking shape in the region.

Speaking at a memorial site for Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the former head of Iran's elite Quds Force who was killed in a U.S. airstrike in 2020, Qalibaf said the assassination had not halted the power or expansion of the "resistance front."

"Just take a look at the situation in the region, and it will become clear who is winning," he said.

Qalibaf said the purpose of his visit to Iraq was to reinforce the emerging regional order and accelerate joint cooperation among all countries in the area, without foreign interference.

He called on Islamic nations to pursue deep security engagement and ties, supported by sustainable economic cooperation, and said Iran was ready to help move this forward.

The comments reflect Tehran's broader push to encourage regional countries to reconsider security policies that rely on U.S. bases, which Iran considers a direct threat. During recent conflicts, Iran has struck several countries hosting U.S. forces.
