Pezeshkian, Araghchi Meet US Media and Think-Tank Figures in New York
Iran's president and foreign minister met US media and think-tank representatives in New York during the UN General Assembly, state media said.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met representatives of United States media organisations and think tanks in New York on Thursday, Iran's state news agency reported.
The encounters, held on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly, brought together what the agency described as experts from a range of American think tanks along with editors-in-chief and senior figures from US media outlets.
Iranian media did not disclose the substance of the discussions, and no readout of the conversations was made public.
The meetings were held as world leaders gathered in New York for the annual General Assembly session, which routinely draws senior officials into a dense schedule of bilateral and multilateral engagements on the sidelines of the main proceedings.
Coverage of the events was subject to restrictions under Iranian law, which bars a designated set of outlets — including Israeli media, Persian-language television stations based outside Iran, and several specific broadcasters — from receiving material from Iran. Under the same provisions, Iranian authorities can move to shut down an organisation's Tehran operations if the ban is violated.
