Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has signaled a firm stance, saying Tehran will continue its resistance with strength until "aggressors" become regretful and the nation's rights are defended.
In a post on X on Tuesday, Pezeshkian reiterated Iran's longstanding opposition to war, stating that the preservation of people's interests and regional security lies in refraining from conflict. However, he emphasized that Iran has boldly risen to defend against aggression and will persist in this approach.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been against war and has considered the preservation of people's interests and regional security to lie in refraining from conflict," he wrote. "However, just as it has boldly risen to defend against aggression up to this day, it will continue this resistance with strength until aggressors become regretful and will remain guardian of people's rights."
The remarks reflect a less conciliatory tone from Tehran amid ongoing tensions in the region. Pezeshkian's statement underscores Iran's commitment to defending its sovereignty while avoiding outright conflict, framing its actions as defensive rather than aggressive.
