Iran Says Qatar Will Relay US Reply After Mediation Talks
Iran's foreign minister says Doha will convey Washington's final response after mediation talks, as Tehran pushes for an end to the war.
Iran has held discussions with Qatari mediators on proposals aimed at ending the ongoing war, and expects Washington's final response to be delivered through Doha, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Monday.
Speaking in New York, Araqchi said the ideas discussed with Qatar would be put to the United States, and that Tehran would receive Washington's reply via the Qatari channel. His remarks were carried by Iran's state news agency IRNA.
The foreign minister also said Iran had informed the United States and the wider international community of the conditions laid down by its Supreme Leader for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He did not elaborate on what those conditions were.
Araqchi framed the proposals as evidence of Iran's willingness to pursue a negotiated outcome. "If the Americans claim they are seeking an agreement or a peaceful solution, we have presented that solution," he said.
The comments come amid a renewed diplomatic push to halt the conflict, with Qatar acting as an intermediary between Tehran and Washington.
