Iranian semi-official media has released new video footage showing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, marking a rare visual appearance after years of public absence.
The clip, distributed on Sunday, appears to show the Supreme Leader addressing a group of men in what looks like a jurisprudence class. The exact date and location of the recording have not been confirmed.
Mehr News Agency, which released the footage, had previously shared a video in March 2026 that appears to have been recorded at the same event. The newly released clip contains different shots from that earlier session.
Khamenei is believed to have stopped public teaching in 2024. He reportedly sustained serious injuries during the early phase of the US-Iran war and has not been seen in public since. His communication has been limited to written statements.
The reason for releasing this footage at this time remains unclear. The video carries restrictions barring access to Israeli media and several Persian-language outlets based outside Iran, in line with Iranian broadcasting regulations.
