On Friday, Sept. 4, Sadeghi returned to the site, standing beside the broken walls and scattered debris of the school where his grandson once studied. The visit came days before volunteers were seen searching through the rubble on Monday, Sept. 7, as the community continues to grapple with the aftermath.
The airstrike, part of broader U.S. military action in the region, has left deep scars in this small community. For Sadeghi, the physical destruction of the school mirrors a personal loss that time has not softened.
The site has become a place of quiet reflection, with family members and neighbors periodically visiting to pay their respects. The school, once a hub of daily activity and learning, now stands as a stark reminder of the human cost of conflict.
