Iran Vows 'Crushing' Retaliation After US Airstrikes on Two Provinces

Iran's military leadership has issued a stark warning to the United States, vowing to deliver "crushing and devastating blows" in response to recent American airstrikes on Iranian territory. The declaration, broadcast on state television, was attributed to the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters.

The statement specifically referenced US military action against locations in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan and the southern province of Hormozgan. In its response, Tehran asserted that continued American hostility in the region would result in increasingly severe consequences.

"The more the US military insists on continuing its hostile actions in the region, the greater and heavier the losses it will have to bear," the military statement warned. It further affirmed Iran's resolve, stating, "We have repeatedly made clear our determination that under no circumstances will we back down from the rights of the Iranian people, and we will impose heavy costs on the American enemy."

The escalation comes amid a period of heightened friction between Washington and Tehran. The US military has reportedly sought to characterise its recent operations as limited in scope. This latest confrontation follows a reported shift in American strategy last month, with President Donald Trump appearing to pivot towards economic sanctions as a primary tool of pressure against Iran.
