Iran Says Diplomacy and Defence Are Inseparable in Face of US Sanctions
Iran's government vows to resist US sanctions, calling diplomacy and defence complementary tools for national security.
The Iranian government has reaffirmed its commitment to resist US sanctions and what it describes as US-Israeli conspiracies, stating that diplomacy and defence are complementary, coordinated, and inseparable instruments for safeguarding the nation's interests, security, and territorial integrity.
In a statement carried by state media on Sunday, the administration outlined a dual-track approach: engaging in diplomatic efforts while simultaneously strengthening its defensive capabilities. The government emphasised that both tracks would be pursued in parallel, without prioritising one over the other.
Beyond the external challenges, the statement also focused on domestic economic priorities. The government said it would concentrate on curbing inflation, creating jobs, and supporting domestic production. A key part of this strategy involves gradually reducing the country's dependence on the US dollar, a move aimed at insulating the economy from the impact of sanctions.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, with Tehran repeatedly rejecting Washington's pressure tactics. By linking diplomacy and defence, the Iranian leadership signals that it will not separate negotiations from its military posture, a stance that could shape future interactions on the international stage.
