New video footage has emerged showing the aftermath of an attack on a wedding in southern Iran that killed at least four people and wounded 68 others. The footage, posted on the Telegram channel of the Iranian news agency Mehr, displays extensive damage to a home in the Kuhestak area of Sirik County, with debris scattered across the site and a damaged car nearby.
Iran's Foreign Ministry has condemned the strikes, stating that attacks on several civilian areas and infrastructure have killed or wounded dozens. The ministry specifically highlighted the attack on the wedding in Sirik County, noting that most of the casualties were women and children.
In response, the ministry said Iranian forces targeted US military bases in the region, describing the action as self-defense against violations of Iran's sovereignty. It has also called on regional countries to prevent the US from using their territory to launch attacks on Iran.
The escalation follows a US military strike on Iranian rocket launchers on an island in the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend. Iran subsequently fired missiles at US bases in Jordan, which were intercepted.
