IRGC Advisor Calls for Offensive Capability Beyond Iran's Borders
A top IRGC advisor says Iran's forces must develop the ability to conduct operations far beyond its borders, citing an offensive doctrine.
A senior advisor to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has stated that the country's military must be prepared to carry out operations well beyond its own territory. The remarks, made during an interview on Iranian state television, signal an emphasis on developing an offensive military posture.
Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, who serves as a senior advisor to the IRGC's Commander-in-Chief, said that Iranian forces need the capability to extend operations into what he described as "enemy territory" and to conduct missions far from home soil. He stressed that such readiness must be achieved so that operations can be executed when the situation demands and when orders are issued.
Naqdi framed these requirements as defining characteristics of an offensive doctrine that the IRGC is now tasked with realizing. He added that the force must develop the necessary capabilities in a timely manner to be able to respond effectively at the appropriate moment.
The comments come amid heightened regional tensions and reflect the IRGC's stated ambition to project power beyond Iran's borders. No specific targets or timelines were mentioned in the interview.
