IRGC Warns It Will 'Change the Geography of the War' if US Escalates

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned on Monday that it would alter the scope of the conflict if the United States escalates it, saying the war is not over and that it has prepared for a prolonged campaign.

"We will certainly change the geography of the war," Brig. Gen. Hossein Mohebbi, a spokesperson for the Guard, said in remarks carried by Iranian state media. He added that "the war is not over" and that the Guard had readied itself for a long-term conflict, describing it as more prepared now than before.

Mohebbi said the conflict had already become regional and that its geography could expand further. "Our martyred Imam said that we would regionalize the war, and now the war has become regional," he said. "But because the region is so vast, there is still room for this war to expand geographically."

He indicated that any escalation would bring changes to the weapons and equipment Iran fields, and to the targets it selects. "We will certainly bring new weapons with new capabilities into the battle," he said, adding that Iran has targets that have not yet been struck.

The war, now more than six months old, began with U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28. It has seen repeated attacks alongside efforts to negotiate an end to the fighting, with no agreement reached to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or revive talks over Iran's nuclear program.
