Israel Says It Killed Hamas Finance Chief in Khan Younis Strike
Israel says it killed Hamas finance department head Mohammed Abu Alwan in a strike on Khan Younis, as Gaza medics report at least four more deaths.
Israel announced on Wednesday that it had killed Mohammed Abu Alwan, the head of Hamas' finance department, in a strike in the southern Gaza Strip.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz said in a joint statement that the operation took place in Khan Younis. They said Israel would keep targeting Hamas commanders, operatives and sources of financing.
Hamas had no immediate comment on the Israeli claim.
Separately, Palestinian medical sources said at least four people had been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza since dawn. Two were killed in a strike on a vehicle in the south, a woman was shot in central Gaza, and another Palestinian was killed in an attack on a displacement camp in Gaza City. Several other people were wounded, the medics said.
Israeli strikes have continued in Gaza despite a ceasefire reached in October 2025. Gaza health officials say more than 1,399 Palestinians have been killed since the truce, taking the death toll since the war began in October 2023 to 73,919.
