Israeli Forces Target Hezbollah Sites in Southern Lebanon
Israel struck Hezbollah infrastructure near Nabatiyeh, southern Lebanon, amid a shaky truce and ongoing occupation.
The Israeli military confirmed it carried out a strike on Hezbollah infrastructure in the Nabatiyeh area of southern Lebanon. Video released by the army, which could not be independently verified, showed the operation in black and white.
The strike comes against the backdrop of a conflict that began in early March when Hezbollah fired rockets across the border, following the launch of a US-Israeli war on Iran. The hostilities displaced an estimated 1.2 million people within Lebanon at their peak.
Since late June, a fragile truce has allowed most displaced civilians to return home. In Beirut, visible signs of the crisis have largely receded, a contrast to the early war period when tents lined the corniche and families slept in cars.
However, the situation in the south remains tense. Israeli forces continue to occupy significant territory and have stated they will not withdraw until Hezbollah is fully disarmed — an outcome widely seen as unlikely. Troops have demolished homes in areas under their control and have conducted repeated strikes, which they describe as targeting militant activity.
