Israeli Army Demolishes West Bank Home of Palestinian Killed in Clash
Israeli forces demolished the West Bank apartment of Farouq Ramadan, one of four Palestinians killed in a July clash that also left two Israelis dead.
The Israeli military demolished the apartment of Farouq Ramadan in the West Bank village of Tell, near Nablus, on Tuesday. The operation targeted the home of a Palestinian whom the army says carried out a shooting attack in the area last month.
Ramadan was among four Palestinians killed in Tell during a confrontation that also resulted in the deaths of two Israelis, including a settler who was part of a local defense squad. The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the Palestinian fatalities at the time.
The precise circumstances of the July incident remain unclear. Israeli media reports and interviews with local Palestinian officials suggest that a group of settlers entered Tell and were met by residents who feared an attack. The village lies in Area B of the occupied West Bank, which, under the 1993 Oslo Accords, is off-limits to Israeli citizens without special permission.
The demolition comes amid heightened tensions in the West Bank, where the Israeli government, which includes settler leaders and supporters, has overseen a significant expansion of settlement construction over the past four years. The international community widely regards Israeli settlements as illegal under international law and an obstacle to peace.
