Israeli strikes hit Gaza City tent camp, killing at least one

Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip on Monday killed at least one person and injured several others, hospital and health officials said.

The strikes hit Gaza City, Zawaida in central Gaza and Khan Younis in southern Gaza, according to the health ministry.

In Gaza City, the aftermath was visible at the Abu Khadra camp, where damaged tents and scattered belongings lay strewn across the ground. Blood stains were visible at the site.

Shaaban Abu Zeidieh, the camp's manager, said people had been targeted in the passageway between the tents. "The displaced persons' tents are in a state of disrepair, and four tents were completely destroyed," he said.

A displaced Palestinian known by the nickname Abu Mohammad described the moment of the strike. "They bombed us from the air, even though we had done nothing wrong," he said. "The children were playing and carrying water - there were women and children there - and they bombed them. We don't know how it happened; suddenly, as you can see, all the tents were destroyed."

The Israeli military confirmed four strikes and said they targeted militants, adding that further information would be provided later.

While the heaviest fighting between Israel and Hamas has subsided since a ceasefire took effect in October, Israeli fire has killed more than 1,360 Palestinians in Gaza, according to health officials in the territory.
