Israeli strikes kill four in southern Lebanon, wound 20

Israeli airstrikes on villages in southern Lebanon's Nabatiyeh province have killed at least four people and wounded 20 others, according to Lebanon's Health Ministry. The strikes on Sunday targeted residential areas, with two fatalities reported in Arabsalim and two more in Nabatiyeh Fawqa.

The wounded include three children and five women. Footage from Arabsalim showed three houses damaged, two of which were completely destroyed. Rescue teams using bulldozers recovered at least one body from the rubble of a destroyed home as search operations continued.

One strike apparently hit the Ghandour Hospital in Nabatiyeh Fawqa, though local civil defense officials said the facility had already been evacuated due to the ongoing conflict.

The strikes come more than two months after a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah took effect. While fighting has largely stopped across Lebanon, violence has persisted around a strategic hill overlooking parts of Nabatiyeh province.

A resident of Arabsalim, Imad Ali Hassan, said the owner of one destroyed house had spent decades working in Canada, sending money home to build his dream home. "Whatever the Israelis may try to do, we will remain steadfast," Hassan said. "This is our village, the South is our home, and Lebanon is our country."
