The clarification follows a letter sent on September 4 by nine employee associations to ISRO Chairperson V Narayanan. The associations sought an official response to reports suggesting that the agency's manufacturing and operational functions could be transferred to private entities.
In its response, ISRO asserted that its importance will not be diminished under any proposed reforms. The agency sought to reassure employees that its core role in India's space programme remains intact, even as the sector opens up to greater private participation.
