Jagan Demands CBI Probe Into Mega DSC 'Irregularities', Lokesh's Resignation

YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into alleged irregularities in the Mega DSC recruitment process, and called for the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh.

In a post on X on Monday, Mr. Reddy challenged the claim by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Mr. Lokesh that the recruitment process was transparent. Those facing allegations of irregularities could not be the ones to certify their own recruitment process as fair, he said.

Referring to events in Vijayawada, where YSRCP leaders, students and unemployed youth attempted to take out a rally demanding a CBI probe, Mr. Reddy alleged that police blocked the protesters and resorted to a lathi-charge, while "goons, disguised as teachers" were allowed to attack them.

He questioned whether the Opposition had been denied its democratic right to hold a peaceful rally, and alleged that the government was using the police to suppress criticism of the DSC recruitment process.

Mr. Reddy said lakhs of candidates had spent years preparing for teacher recruitment examinations and considerable sums of money in the process. They should be able to trust that their merit would be protected through a fair and transparent government recruitment system, he said.

He alleged that the reported irregularities had eroded the confidence of unemployed youth and DSC aspirants in the recruitment process. Only an impartial CBI investigation could restore public confidence, he said.

Mr. Reddy demanded that Mr. Lokesh accept responsibility for the alleged irregularities and step down as Education Minister, and urged the State government to order a CBI inquiry.

Until these demands are met, he said, the party's voice would continue to resonate across the State.
