Jagan to Meet Governor Over Alleged Attack on YSRCP Rallies Seeking CBI Probe into DSC Recruitment

YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to meet Governor S. Abdul Nazeer to apprise him of alleged attacks by TDP groups on the party's rallies demanding a CBI inquiry into irregularities in the DSC recruitment process.

Mr. Reddy reviewed the incidents of violence during the protests at a meeting with senior party leaders on Tuesday. He said the party had taken the matter seriously and would pursue it through all constitutional and legal means.

He alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh had been exposed over the alleged irregularities in the DSC recruitment process and were unable to face the demand for a CBI inquiry. Whenever the YSRCP raised issues relating to alleged corruption and scams, they resorted to attacks and intimidation, he alleged.

According to Mr. Reddy, the peaceful rallies organised by the YSRCP once again brought the DSC issue into public focus, and to divert attention from it, Mr. Naidu and Mr. Lokesh deployed their supporters. He described the ruling party's outreach as a "rowdy force" rather than a "Yuvagalam team", used wherever the government's alleged corruption, scams and atrocities are questioned.

He alleged that an organised attempt was made to create violence during a peaceful programme, with attackers snatching lathis from police personnel and pelting stones at YSRCP workers. He further alleged that Mr. Naidu had planned the attack from Kuppam and that remarks made at a public meeting there indicated a conspiracy.

Despite suffering injuries, YSRCP leaders and workers exercised restraint, Mr. Reddy said. Instead of registering cases against the alleged attackers, the police booked cases against YSRCP members and allowed the assailants to go scot-free, he alleged.

"This has become their standard modus operandi. They attack our people, register cases against the victims and then use the yellow media to spread false propaganda against us," he said, adding that the same groups were involved in several earlier attacks on YSRCP and that clear evidence was before the police but no action had been taken.

Mr. Reddy demanded immediate action on the complaints submitted by YSRCP leaders and the registration of cases against Mr. Naidu and Mr. Lokesh for allegedly sending the groups responsible for the attack. He said the party would continue to question the government until the DSC recruitment process is handed over to the CBI.
