The wife of a migrant worker from Telangana's Jagtial district has appealed to the State government to help bring back her husband's mortal remains from war-torn Ukraine, where he was reportedly killed in a missile strike earlier this week.
Avilala Sudarshan, 37, a native of Raikal in Jagtial district, had travelled to Ukraine about two months ago in search of work. He was an experienced worker in reinforced concrete products and structures. According to sources, Sudarshan was killed on September 1 after a missile struck near his rented accommodation in a conflict-affected region.
His wife, Bhargavi, who resides in Jagtial, approached the Chief Minister's Pravasi Prajavani office in Hyderabad on Thursday, submitting a memorandum to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. She has requested the State government to liaise with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy and Consulate officials in Kyiv to expedite the identification and recovery of her husband's remains.
The family has sought assistance in transporting the body to their native place in Jagtial district so that the final rites can be performed. The plea comes amid ongoing hostilities in the region, which have complicated efforts to reach affected areas and recover casualties.
