Jaideep Ahlawat Says His 'Drishyam 3' Role Is a Fresh Start, Not a Replacement
Jaideep Ahlawat clarifies his 'Drishyam 3' character is new and unrelated to Akshaye Khanna's exit, promising a fresh narrative.
Actor Jaideep Ahlawat has addressed the speculation surrounding his casting in the upcoming film 'Drishyam 3', clarifying that his role is an entirely new addition to the story and has no connection to the character previously played by Akshaye Khanna.
Speaking at the trailer launch in Goa, Ahlawat explained that the narrative did not position him as a replacement. He noted that the earlier character's journey concludes, making way for a new figure to enter the plot. This, he said, removed any pressure of living up to a predecessor's legacy.
Ahlawat described his part as a "completely different journey," with a fresh introduction and new dynamics established with the existing characters, including the Deshmukh and Salgaonkar families. He emphasised that the approach to his character is individualistic, allowing him to craft a distinct performance.
The trailer for 'Drishyam: The Conclusion' was unveiled on Wednesday, showing Ajay Devgn reprising his role as Vijay Salgaonkar. Ahlawat enters the franchise as SP Crime Branch Rajveer Singh Tomar, a determined officer who takes on the seemingly unsolvable case against Salgaonkar. The trailer hints at old secrets resurfacing as Tomar closes in on the truth.
Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film also features Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 2.
