Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2' locks October 15, 2026 theatrical release

Sun Pictures confirms Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2' will release in theatres on October 15, 2026, during the Dussehra festive window.

The much-anticipated sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer finally has a confirmed release date. Producers Sun Pictures announced on social media that Jailer 2 will arrive in theatres on October 15, 2026, ending months of speculation about its release timeline.

The announcement puts to rest earlier reports that suggested the film might debut in September. The chosen date also places the release within the Dussehra festive period, offering the film a strong box-office window. There had been some industry chatter about potential reshoots causing a delay, but the official confirmation appears to have cleared those concerns.

Rajinikanth will reprise his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with Nelson Dilipkumar returning to direct. Music composer Anirudh Ravichander is also back for the sequel, reuniting the core team from the first film.

The original Jailer, released in 2023, became one of Rajinikanth's biggest commercial successes, setting high expectations for the follow-up. The sequel has already generated buzz through promotional materials, including an announcement teaser and the song 'Ala Bolelo'.

Jailer 2 features an expanded ensemble cast. Vijay Sethupathi is expected to make a cameo appearance, while the film also includes SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Vidya Balan in key roles.
