Jaipur man kills wife, three daughters with brick; police hunt for suspect

A Jaipur man allegedly killed his wife and three daughters with a brick while they slept, police said. He is on the run and special teams are searching for him.

A man in Jaipur allegedly killed his wife and three daughters by smashing their heads with a brick while they were asleep, police said. The suspect, Rahul Jha, is the husband of the deceased woman and the father of the three girls, and remains at large.

The victims have been identified as 40-year-old Geeta Jha and her daughters Nandini, Girisha and Radhika, who were between 17 and 23 years old. The attack took place at their home in Govindpura.

The killings came to light around 10 am on Friday, when neighbours and relatives grew suspicious after noticing no activity at the house. The accused's 85-year-old father was present at the home when police arrived.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Prashant Kiran said a family dispute is suspected to have led to the killings, though the exact motive is still being established. "We are now trying to determine what triggered the accused to allegedly carry out the attack," he said.

Forensic Science Laboratory teams and a dog squad were called to the scene. Blood samples and other forensic evidence were collected, and the brick allegedly used in the attack has been taken into custody for examination.

Special police teams have been formed to arrest Rahul Jha. Checking has been intensified at entry and exit points, and raids are being conducted at locations where he could be hiding.

A large crowd gathered outside the house as news of the murders spread.
