Jaipur: Speeding Thar Hits Congress Leader's SUV, Then E-Rickshaw; 3 Injured
A speeding Thar crashed into a Congress leader's SUV and an e-rickshaw in Jaipur, injuring three e-rickshaw passengers.
A dramatic late-night accident in Jaipur on Sunday saw a speeding Mahindra Thar lose control, overturn, and collide with two other vehicles near the Mansarovar Metro Station, leaving three people injured.
The Thar first rammed into a Ford Endeavour, registered in the name of Congress leader Ashok Chandna's wife, at a traffic intersection. It then struck an e-rickshaw that was passing by before overturning.
Three occupants of the e-rickshaw sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to a hospital for treatment. Police said the Thar was speeding and lost control while negotiating a turn.
Following the crash, the drivers and occupants of both the Thar and the Endeavour fled the scene. Authorities have seized both vehicles and are scanning CCTV footage from nearby cameras to trace the missing drivers.
A crane was deployed to clear the damaged vehicles and restore normal traffic movement on the road.
Police records show that the Endeavour had over 18 prior speeding challans against it, while the Thar involved in the accident had more than four speeding challans registered against it.
