External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has drawn attention to the widening consequences of two ongoing conflicts, warning that their effects are being felt well beyond the countries immediately involved.
Speaking on the fallout from the Ukraine conflict and the crisis between Iran and the Gulf, Jaishankar said the ripple effects are already resonating heavily across the wider world. The two situations, he indicated, are no longer regional matters alone.
A particular concern, he noted, is food security. A food crisis is already brewing as a result of certain ongoing factors linked to these developments, he said.
The remarks point to the strain that prolonged geopolitical tensions are placing on global supply chains and on economies that have no direct role in the conflicts themselves. Jaishankar's message was directed at policymakers, underlining the need to account for these cascading pressures.
His comments come amid continuing global uncertainty over energy, trade and food supplies, with developing economies among the most exposed to disruptions they did not create.
