James Gunn Announces End of Filming for 'Superman: Man of Tomorrow'

Filmmaker James Gunn has confirmed that principal photography on 'Superman: Man of Tomorrow' is officially complete. The director took to social media to share the news, posting photographs from the set and expressing his appreciation for the team involved in the production.

In his post, Gunn described the experience as a joyful one, noting his immense gratitude toward the cast and crew. He highlighted a moment where actor Nicholas Hoult jumped into a lake after the final shot, and also shared a picture of the core creative group gathered around the video village during the shoot.

The upcoming DC film serves as a sequel to 2025's 'Superman' and features David Corenswet reprising his role as the titular hero. The storyline sees Superman teaming up with his longtime adversary Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, to confront a greater threat in the form of the super-intelligent villain Brainiac, portrayed by Lars Eidinger.

Rachel Brosnahan returns as Lois Lane, alongside a host of familiar faces including Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. Milly Alcock, who previously made a cameo as Kara Zor-El, will also reprise her role after leading the 'Supergirl' project.

The sequel will also introduce Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, a character slated to appear in the upcoming HBO Max series 'Lanterns'. Earlier this year, Gunn teased the production with social media posts, including a behind-the-scenes look at Lex Luthor's war suit in June.

'Superman: Man of Tomorrow' is scheduled to hit theatres on July 9, 2027.
