Jharkhand minister's daughter among four dead in Jamshedpur road crash
Four young people, including Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh's younger daughter Trisha, died when their car hit a parked truck in Jamshedpur early Thursday.
Four people, among them the younger daughter of Jharkhand Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, were killed when their car struck a truck in Jamshedpur early on Thursday, police said.
The crash occurred around 3 am on Marine Drive in the Sonari area, near Domuhani. The victims were travelling in a white Swift that rammed into a truck parked along the roadside.
The deceased have been identified as Trisha Singh, the minister's younger daughter, and Sarthak Agrawal, Naman Gupta and Vanshika Khandelwal.
The force of the collision crushed the upper portion of the car and left it wedged beneath the truck, trapping all four occupants inside the wreckage. A gas cutter was used to cut through the mangled vehicle so the bodies could be recovered. They were then sent to MGM Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed his condolences over the deaths. In a post on X, he described the news as extremely sad and heart-wrenching, referring to the minister as a fellow minister and a sister. He said the loss of a child is a pain beyond words and unbearable for any parent and family, and that his deepest condolences were with Deepika ji and the bereaved families in this difficult hour.
Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi also condoled the deaths. In a post on X, he said he was saddened by the untimely death of the girl injured in the road accident and prayed for strength for the bereaved family to bear the loss.
