Jharkhand Minister Dipika Pandey Singh's Daughter Among 4 Killed in Jamshedpur Crash

Four people, including the daughter of Jharkhand minister Dipika Pandey Singh, were killed when the car they were travelling in crashed into a stationary truck in Jamshedpur early on Thursday, police said.

The accident took place on Marine Drive Road, within the jurisdiction of Sonari police station. Those who died were identified as Trisha Singh, Sarthak Agarwal, Naman Gupta and Vanshika Khandelwal.

According to the officer-in-charge of Sonari police station, Sanjay Suman, the minister's daughter was among the four killed. A deputy superintendent of police, Manoj Thakur, said all four occupants of the car died at the scene.

Visuals from the spot showed the truck parked on the right side of the four-lane highway, close to the divider, with a small tree branch placed at its rear — an indication that it had broken down and could not be moved. No reflector signage was visible on the road. The car was seen in a mangled condition behind the truck.

Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed their condolences over the deaths.

In a social media post, Gangwar described the news of the minister's daughter's death in the accident on the national highway in Jamshedpur as extremely heart-breaking, adding that the grief of a mother who loses her child cannot be put into words.

Soren said the news of the deaths of the daughter of his fellow minister and "sister" Deepika Pandey Singh, along with other individuals, had left him deeply grieved. He said the pain of losing a child is beyond words and unbearable for any parent or family, and conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families. He also prayed that Marang Buru grant peace to the departed souls and give the grieving families strength to bear the loss.

BJP leader and former chief minister Champai Soren also condoled the death of Trisha Singh, calling it heart-breaking.
