Bihar Police Probe Viral Video of Couple Being Harassed in Jamui
A viral video from Bihar's Jamui shows a couple being chased and harassed by a group; police are analysing the footage and say action will follow identification.
Police in Bihar's Jamui district are examining a video circulating online that purportedly shows a man and a woman being chased and harassed by a group of people.
Jamui Superintendent of Police Vishwajit Dayal said the woman had been contacted and officers were going through the footage to identify those seen in it. Legal action would follow once the suspects are identified, he added.
The clip has drawn attention on social media, with several users tagging Bihar Police and demanding action against those involved.
According to the video, the couple is surrounded by a group, with one person grabbing the man's shirt collar and pulling him away from the woman. As she attempts to flee, a masked man follows her and appears to lead her away, while she is heard screaming and resisting.
The woman's companion manages to break free and runs to her aid. The two then head for a two-wheeler parked nearby, but the group chases them. An argument breaks out as they get on the vehicle in an attempt to leave, and the attackers grab the woman's arm. She is heard pleading again before the footage ends.
Several vehicles can be seen parked in the area. The circumstances that led to the confrontation have not been independently established, and police said they were investigating the sequence of events.
