Jarkiholi to cooperate with ED if probe launched, says brother
Satish Jarkiholi's brother says he will cooperate with ED. Congress district chief calls raid politically motivated.
Amid reports of an Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid on the residence of Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi, his younger brother and Independent MLC Lakhan Jarkiholi said on Wednesday that the Minister would cooperate fully with any investigation into his business activities.
Speaking to reporters in Gokak, Lakhan Jarkiholi said he first learned of the raid through media reports and was not aware of the reasons behind it. He acknowledged that his brother has been active in both politics and business, but said he had no knowledge of Satish's business dealings, adding that their business interests are separate.
"I am sure that he will provide all the details to ED officers. He will answer all the questions they may ask," Lakhan Jarkiholi said.
Meanwhile, Belagavi District Congress Committee president Vinay Navalagatti criticised the action, alleging that the raid was politically motivated. He claimed that the BJP-led Union Government was misusing agencies such as the ED to target Opposition leaders, but expressed confidence that Satish Jarkiholi would emerge from the situation without any adverse findings.
