Jarkiholi says no clarity yet on who triggered ED searches at his home
Karnataka minister Satish Jarkiholi says he has no concrete information on who complained to the ED against him, and will speak only after studying the documents.
Karnataka Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi has said he does not yet have concrete information about who filed the complaint that led the Enforcement Directorate to search his residence, walking back an earlier claim that he had told Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar who was behind it.
Speaking to reporters in Belagavi on Wednesday, the Minister said efforts were on to gather details and that clarity might emerge later. He added that he could not level allegations against anyone without proper documentation.
Jarkiholi said he would be able to comment on matters relating to the searches only after going through the necessary documents and information.
Asked whether the BJP was deliberately targeting leaders from the Scheduled Tribe community, he said such an impression had taken hold among people following some recent incidents. He also said the recent actions of central agencies made it appear that their principal targets were Opposition leaders rather than those from the BJP.
The remarks come two days after he had claimed to have informed the Chief Minister about who had complained against him to the ED.
