Javier Bardem to Receive Lifetime Achievement Honour at Rome Film Festival
Javier Bardem will receive a lifetime achievement award at the Rome Film Festival in October, where he will also present a screening of 'The Beloved'.
Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem is set to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Rome Film Festival, which runs from 13 to 25 October 2026.
The award will be presented to him by Paolo Sorrentino, the director behind "The Great Beauty," as Bardem presents a screening of "The Beloved" in the festival's Best of 2026 section.
Directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, "The Beloved" ("El ser querido") premiered in competition at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The film centres on the reunion between Esteban Martínez, a world-famous film director and former hell-raiser played by Bardem, and his estranged daughter Emilia, an unsuccessful actor portrayed by Victoria Luengo.
Bardem's appearance at the Rome event follows his visit to the Venice Film Festival last week, where he and his wife, Penélope Cruz, launched their Golden Lion-nominated drama "Bunker," directed by Florian Zeller.
The actor won the Academy Award for best supporting actor in 2008 for "No Country for Old Men." He has since been nominated for best actor three times: in 2001 for "Before Night Falls," in 2011 for "Biutiful" and most recently in 2022 for "Being the Ricardos."
His filmography also includes "Skyfall," "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," "The Sea Inside" and "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story." He is scheduled to return to screens in December with "Dune: Part Three."
