JBS and Indonesia's Danantara to Launch Protein Joint Venture
JBS and Indonesia's Danantara form a joint venture with a $2.5 billion investment to expand protein production across Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand.
Brazilian meatpacker JBS has reached an agreement to establish a joint venture with PT Danantara (DIM), an investment arm of Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund. The partnership is aimed at pursuing new opportunities in protein production across several key Asia-Pacific markets.
The venture will focus on Indonesia, broader Southeastern Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. As part of the deal, the Indonesian fund will contribute $2.5 billion in investment, while JBS will bring its existing operations in Australia and New Zealand into the new entity.
JBS announced the agreement in a securities filing on Friday, outlining the strategic scope of the collaboration. The move signals a deeper push by the Brazilian company into the region's protein sector, backed by significant state-linked capital from Indonesia.
The joint venture is expected to combine JBS's operational expertise with Danantara's financial backing, positioning the partnership to capitalize on growing demand for protein in the region.
