Jharkhand: FIR after father alleges gang rape of 13-year-old in Gumla
A father in Gumla district has alleged his 13-year-old daughter was gang-raped and beaten; an FIR has been lodged at Palkot police station.
A man in Jharkhand's Gumla district has alleged that his 13-year-old daughter was gang-raped and beaten by a group of men, police said on Saturday.
An FIR has been registered at Palkot police station on the basis of his complaint, filed on Friday. The girl is currently admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for specialised care.
"A police team has been sent to Ranchi's RIMS to get the girl's medical report. Rape can only be confirmed after the medical report is received," said Ankit Raj, in-charge of Palkot police station.
According to the complaint, the girl was found lying unconscious outside her home on Thursday night. The father alleged that she was gang-raped and beaten mercilessly, though he did not specify how many people were involved.
The father told police that the girl was first taken to Simdega Sadar Hospital, where doctors referred her to Gumla. From Gumla's Sadar Hospital, she was referred to RIMS in Ranchi.
Police said an investigation into the case has been launched.
