Julianne Moore to Receive Golden Icon Award at Zurich Film Festival

Julianne Moore will receive the Golden Icon Award at the 22nd Zurich Film Festival for her career and performance in 'The Debut'.

Hollywood actress Julianne Moore is set to be honoured with the Golden Icon Award at the 22nd Zurich Film Festival. The accolade recognises her "extraordinary career" and her performance in her upcoming film, 'The Debut'.

Moore will attend the festival alongside Jesse Eisenberg, who directs the film. 'The Debut' marks their second collaboration, following Eisenberg's 2022 directorial debut, 'When You Finish Saving the World'. It is his third feature as a director.

The film follows Mona Friedman, a shy housewife who lands a small role in a community theatre production. She transforms into a zealous method actor, determined to protect the artistic integrity of her part, even if it means clashing with the director.

Zurich Film Festival CEO Christian Jungen praised Moore as one of American cinema's outstanding character actresses, citing her versatility and ability to captivate audiences. He described 'The Debut' as a "love letter" to her profession and a fitting tribute to her career.

Moore won the Academy Award for Best Actress for 'Still Alice' and has received Oscar nominations for 'Far From Heaven', 'The Hours', 'The End of the Affair', and 'Boogie Nights'. She has also won Best Actress honours at Cannes for 'Maps to the Stars', at Venice for 'Far From Heaven', and at Berlin for 'The Hours'.
