K.K. Rema asks CPI(M) to admit Chandrasekharan murder as 'irreparable mistake'

Vadakara MLA K.K. Rema has publicly challenged the Communist Party of India (Marxist) to acknowledge the 2012 killing of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrasekharan as an "irreparable mistake" for which the party was responsible.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Ms. Rema, who is Chandrasekharan's wife, questioned whether the CPI(M) leadership possessed the political honesty to make such an admission before the people of Keralam. Her intervention comes as the party holds an extended State committee meeting in Kozhikode to examine its political and organisational shortcomings.

Ms. Rema recalled her husband's resistance to what she described as corruption and policy deviations within the leadership, and his backing for political struggles led by figures including V.S. Achuthanandan. She alleged that party leaders had conspired to kill Chandrasekharan because he refused to compromise on the leadership's mistakes.

Chandrasekharan, a former CPI(M) leader, was hacked to death at Onchiyam in Kozhikode district in May 2012. The killing triggered a major political controversy in the State.
