Kakinada Police Book Institute Director, 20 Students Over Unauthorised Protest
Kakinada police registered a case against Shyam Institute director and 20 students for staging an unauthorised protest on September 7.
The Kakinada city police on Tuesday registered a case against G. Shyam, director of the Shyam Institute, and 20 of its students for staging a protest on September 7 without prior permission. The students, who come from various parts of the state, are aspirants for constable and Sub-Inspector posts.
The protest on September 7 saw scores of students demanding the issuance of a notification for mega recruitment of constables and Sub-Inspectors. The case was registered following the demonstration.
Tension prevailed on the institute's campus on Tuesday morning when police arrived without prior communication to the management. According to the office of the Kakinada Superintendent of Police, the case has been filed against Mr. Shyam and the 20 students.
In a press conference, Mr. Shyam said that the police entered the institute without any prior intimation and alleged that he had instigated the students to protest. He termed the allegations baseless and said he was ready to provide any information sought by the police. He added that the police should establish his role in the protest before conducting a raid.
