Andhra Pradesh to seek ₹200 crore UIDF funds for Kakinada underground drainage
Andhra Pradesh will seek ₹200 crore from the Centre's Urban Infrastructure Development Fund for underground drainage in Kakinada, Minister P. Narayana said.
The Andhra Pradesh government will approach the Centre for ₹200 crore under the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF) to build an underground drainage system in Kakinada, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana said.
Mr. Narayana, who is also the district in-charge minister for Kakinada, reviewed the city's ongoing and proposed projects on Sunday along with city MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao and Kakinada Municipal Corporation Commissioner N.V.V. Satyanarayana.
At the review, the minister instructed officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to support the funding request for the drainage project.
Officials also presented the status of Jal Jeevan Mission works worth ₹354 crore that are under way in the city. Mr. Narayana said the state government would shortly take a decision on the drinking water source and the share of water to be allocated to Kakinada.
On civic amenities, he said tenders have been invited for modernising parks and expanding green cover in the city at an estimated cost of ₹25 crore.
