Kalaburagi artist picked for India-Italy art workshop in Venice

Kalaburagi-based artist and photographer Mohammed Ayazuddin Patel has been invited to participate in the 'International Collaborative Art Performance & Sculpture Workshop' scheduled to be held in Venice, Italy, from September 17 to 20.

The event, titled 'Art Beyond Borders: A Creative Dialogue Between India and Italy', is being jointly organised by the S.M.D. Foundation and H.U. Venezia. It will bring together 11 distinguished Indian artists from Karnataka, Assam, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Baroda, alongside leading European artists.

The workshop aims to use art as a medium to foster cultural understanding through collaborative performances, sculpture and creative dialogue, strengthening ties between Indian and European artistic communities.

The Venice programme is part of a broader 15-day European study tour scheduled from September 9 to 23, covering France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Italy, including Florence, Rome and Vatican City. During the tour, participating artists will visit renowned museums, galleries and monuments associated with masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Vincent Van Gogh, Rembrandt and Picasso.

For Mr. Patel, the itinerary includes visits to the Louvre Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Sistine Chapel, the Accademia Gallery and the Colosseum.

A recognised resource person on the art, architecture and history of the Deccan dynasties, Mr. Patel has received several honours, including the National Lalit Kala Award (2014), the CCRT National Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture (2016-17), and the Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy Senior Fellowship (2018). He has also established his own art gallery, museum and research centre.

Having previously travelled extensively across the United States, United Kingdom, Russia, Turkey, China, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and other countries, Mr. Patel continues to expand his artistic engagement across borders.
