Kalamassery police summon Anto Augustine in case over CM Satheesan remarks
Kalamassery police have summoned Anto Augustine for questioning on Monday in a case tied to his remarks about Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan.
The Kalamassery police have summoned Anto Augustine, managing director of Reporter Broadcasting Company, for interrogation in a case linked to his controversial remarks about Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan.
An officer at the Kalamassery police station said Mr. Augustine has been directed to appear before investigators at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 28. The summons was issued on Friday, September 25.
The case follows a complaint filed by Congress spokesperson Raju P. Nair, whose statement the police recorded last week. Mr. Nair said he found the circumstances in which Mr. Augustine made his remarks suspicious and sought a probe into whether a conspiracy lay behind the episode.
At the centre of the matter is Mr. Augustine's claim that two people approached him with what they described as a journalistic scoop concerning an alleged second marriage of Mr. Satheesan. He said his channel did not broadcast the claim because his team was unable to verify it.
Police have registered a case against Mr. Augustine and two unidentified persons under provisions relating to alleged conspiracy and forgery. Investigations are continuing.
