Kalki 2898 AD, produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, has won two awards at the 72nd National Film Awards, prompting a celebratory note from its makers.
The makers of Kalki 2898 AD are celebrating two wins at the 72nd National Film Awards, where the film was named Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Nitin Zihani received the award for Best Production Design.
Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and directed by Nag Ashwin, the film was recognised for a scale of storytelling that draws together mythology, science fiction and futuristic elements. The team described the honours as an acknowledgement of the combined work of its cast, crew and technicians.
Vyjayanthi Movies marked the double win on social media, calling it a significant moment for the team. "A DREAM. A JOURNEY. A celebration of CINEMA," the production house wrote, adding that the team was immensely honoured by the Best Popular Film award. It also thanked the jury of the 72nd National Film Awards for recognising the film's efforts and journey.
In a separate post, the banner congratulated Zihani on his production design win, calling it a moment of immense pride for the team.
The awards were presented by President Droupadi Murmu. Nag Ashwin, producers Swapna Dutt and Ashwini Dutt, and other members of the team attended the ceremony.
Released in 2024, Kalki 2898 AD is set in a futuristic world and blends Indian mythology with science fiction and action. Its ensemble cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Shobana and Disha Patani.
