Kalpana Iyer, 70, says she is being ghosted by Bollywood after seeking work, asking only for fairness and direct communication.
Veteran actor Kalpana Iyer, known for the hit song 'Rambha Ho' and films like 'Disco Dancer' and 'Raja Hindustani', has spoken out about her struggle to find work in Bollywood at the age of 70. In a recent Instagram post, she said she wants to keep acting but expects "decency and respect" from those who approach her for projects.
Iyer, who has appeared in over 100 films, said she does not want to be treated like a "diva" but is tired of being ignored after initial contact. She explained that she is willing to adapt and even make changes if needed, but only if people communicate openly with her.
"I don't expect everything to work out because it's a new world order," she wrote, adding that she is not asking for sympathy or special treatment. "I want work fair and square," she said, urging casting professionals not to make assumptions about her without speaking to her first.
The actor, who was first runner-up at Femina Miss India 1978 and represented India at Miss World, said her post is not aimed at any one person. "It is about a 70-year-old saying 'Be fair and decent'," she wrote, "and I think I can expect this from you."
