Siddharth P. Malhotra Urges Caution on Kamal Aur Meena Casting Reports
Director Siddharth P. Malhotra has asked media to stop speculating on the cast of his Meena Kumari biopic Kamal Aur Meena, saying details will be announced after agreements are finalised.
Filmmaker Siddharth P. Malhotra has responded to mounting speculation about the cast of his upcoming Meena Kumari biopic, Kamal Aur Meena, asking for patience until an official announcement is made.
Reports in recent days suggested that Saif Ali Khan and Triptii Dimri were in advanced discussions to portray filmmaker Kamal Amrohi and the legendary actress Meena Kumari, respectively. The purported pairing drew widespread attention given the stature of the real-life figures at the heart of the story.
Malhotra acknowledged the public interest but cautioned against treating unconfirmed reports as fact. "Absolutely touched and delighted by the love and interest around Kamal Aur Meena. But a humble request to the media: please stop the speculation and unconfirmed reports," he said.
The director explained that the team is still working on finalising the cast and other aspects of the project, and that the cast, studio and further details will be shared once the necessary agreements are in place. He also noted that conjecture based on incomplete information could harm the film and those associated with it. "Unnecessary conjecture doesn't help the film, the actors or the studios involved," he added.
Kamal Aur Meena centres on the relationship between Meena Kumari and Kamal Amrohi, who were married and collaborated professionally. The project has generated considerable curiosity over its casting. Before the latest reports involving Dimri, Kiara Advani had also been linked to the role of Meena Kumari.
