Kamal Haasan has expressed pride in director Rajkumar Periasamy, who won the Best Director National Film Award for 'Amaran'.
Superstar Kamal Haasan has publicly congratulated director Rajkumar Periasamy after the filmmaker received the National Film Award for Best Direction for the film Amaran.
Haasan shared a photograph with Periasamy on his X handle, in which the director is seen displaying his National Film Award medal. In his post, Haasan wrote that he was happy and proud of Periasamy, calling the recognition excellent work and a well-earned national honour.
Periasamy was presented with the award by President Droupadi Murmu at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony held in Gujarat on Tuesday. He won the Best Director award for Amaran, which featured Siva Karthikeyan in the lead role. The film was co-produced by Kamal Haasan under his banner, Raaj Kamal Films International.
Meanwhile, Periasamy's next directorial venture is OM: Chapter 1, starring Dhanush and Mammootty in the lead roles. On Wednesday, the makers announced that the film's release date has been postponed to avoid a box-office clash with films featuring Rajinikanth and Suriya.
As for Kamal Haasan, his next project as a producer is the Rajinikanth-starrer Dharman. The film is directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and produced by Haasan. It marks Rajinikanth's 173rd film and stars Simran as the female lead, reuniting with the superstar after Petta. Raashii Khanna also plays a key role in the film.
