Kangana Ranaut Slams Mandi Officials Over Fund Misuse, Incomplete Work

BJP MP Kangana Ranaut launched a sharp critique of officials in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district during a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting, raising concerns over the execution of central schemes and the handling of public money.

Reviewing development projects under DISHA, Ranaut insisted that government funds must reach the intended beneficiaries without diversion. She alleged that a significant portion of public money—between 30 and 40 per cent—ends up in the wrong hands, calling for stricter oversight and accountability.

The Mandi MP pointed to pending works despite an allocation of Rs 11 crore for her constituency, questioning how officials expected her to respond to media queries about development progress. She described the situation as one of incompetence and negligence, noting that some matters had remained unresolved for up to two years.

Ranaut stressed that central schemes should not remain limited to paperwork and that their benefits must reach villages and genuinely needy people. She directed officials to monitor the quality of work, track scheme progress, and ensure projects are completed on time.

This is not the first time Ranaut has expressed dissatisfaction with officials at DISHA meetings. In October 2025, she had cautioned them against treating the review process lightly and urged greater seriousness in development work.

The latest exchange has again highlighted concerns around official accountability, transparency in fund utilisation, and the pace of project implementation in Mandi.
