Kannur civic body flags forged documents in building permit case, Mayor seeks police action
Kannur Corporation detects forged documents in a building permit at Pallikkunnu zonal office; Mayor files police complaint.
The Kannur Corporation has unearthed serious procedural violations in the issuance of a building permit and number at its Pallikkunnu zonal office. Mayor P. Indira has lodged a formal complaint with the police, urging stringent action against those responsible for the lapses in the Revenue section.
The irregularities surfaced after an individual from Chalad applied online for a building number for a structure near Payyambalam, intended to house a restaurant. During a routine site visit, a health inspector noted discrepancies and escalated the matter to the zonal engineering section.
A subsequent inquiry revealed that the Corporation had never issued a completion certificate or an occupancy certificate for the building. Officials also discovered that the file number cited in the submitted documents did not exist in the Corporation's official records.
The papers were then forwarded to the Information Kerala Mission (IKM), the Corporation's technical wing, for a detailed verification. The IKM report confirmed that the names and other particulars in the documents were entirely fabricated.
