Karamveer Singh, an associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was arrested by Punjab Police's AGTF at IGI Airport after being deported from Canada.
Punjab Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has taken custody of a close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi following his deportation from Canada, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Karamveer Singh, a resident of Bahadur Ke village in Ludhiana, was apprehended by the AGTF team at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi upon his arrival.
According to the DGP, Karamveer Singh had provided logistical support and a hideout to Lawrence Bishnoi's brother Anmol Bishnoi, who is also wanted in numerous cases, in the United States. He was wanted in a First Information Report registered in Mohali (SAS Nagar), and a Look Out Circular was initiated on September 3.
Additional Director General of Police Promod Ban said the accused has an extensive criminal history across Punjab, involving at least five cases related to murder, attempt to murder, armed robbery and extortion. Further investigations are underway to establish his operational connections, illicit funding channels and linkages with other members of the gang.
